From mad existence to purposeful living
Our world today is filled with people who suffer from various forms of psychosis and mental disorder. Jesus’ day was no exception.
There is a powerfully moving story in the gospel which illustrates what Jesus did and desires to do in lives today. The story is recorded in all three Synoptic Gospels – Matthew 8:28 34, Mark 5:1-20 and Luke 8:26-39. Jesus had crossed over the lake with his disciples, and the first sight that met him was a man possessed by unclean spirits. That man bore all the hallmarks of madness. He lived in the graveyard; he was violent, he self-harmed; was often chained but so powerful was he that he would break the chains in pieces, crying out night and day in his torment. His was a terrible story.
